The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the return of bus routes and electric ferries for the 2024-2025 season of Global Village. The RTA revealed that four bus routes heading to Global Village have recently restarted operations. These include Route 102 from Al Rashidiya Bus Station with trips every 60 minutes, Route 103 from the Union Bus Station with trips every 40 minutes, Route 104 from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station with trips every 60 minutes, and Route 106 from the Mall of the Emirates Bus Station with trips every 60 minutes. The buses are described as luxury, offering comfort, safety, and an enjoyable travel experience for individuals and families heading to and from Global Village.
In addition to the bus services, two tourist electric ferries, known as abras, are also now available to transport visitors to Global Village during its 29th season. The RTA expressed its commitment to offering abra services in conjunction with the launch of activities at Global Village each year, acknowledging the high demand for this mode of transportation in previous seasons. The RTA highlighted that the abra service not only enhances the tourism experience at Global Village but also ensures the comfort and satisfaction of the village's visitors, contributing to the overall enjoyment of their visit.
Moreover, the RTA shared statistics showing a substantial increase in the number of passengers utilizing its bus services to Global Village during the 2023-2024 season. A total of 573,759 passengers were transported, indicating a 22% rise compared to the previous season (2022-2023) when 448,716 passengers were served. This significant increase in ridership reflects the popularity and effectiveness of the RTA's efforts to enhance transportation services to and from Global Village, catering to the growing number of visitors and tourists attending the seasonal event.
