The Importance of Vitamin D During Autumn

Health experts warn of a decline in vitamin D levels during autumn due to lack of sunlight, which negatively affects health. Vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of infections and seasonal depression. It is recommended to monitor vitamin D levels and ensure intake along with magnesium and vitamin K2.

The Importance of Vitamin D During Autumn

It is important to maintain optimal levels of vitamins, especially in the fall when due to a lack of sunlight the content of vitamin D decreases, which acts as a source of stress, says the expert. A deficiency of essential nutrients often leads to health problems - from colds to weakened immunity and depression.

"In vitamin D deficiency, the functioning of organs and tissues that consume energy, including the nervous system, immunity, and endocrine glands, is disrupted," explains the doctor.

Expert Dr. Andrey Martushov-Boklad notes that vitamin D improves calcium absorption; however, excessive vitamin intake can be harmful to health. There are concerns about the risks and even toxicity of vitamin D due to its ability to enhance calcium absorption, which can be unsafe in the absence of other vital substances - vitamins K2 and magnesium.

"In the last 10-15 years, it has become clear that vitamin D plays a role of the main hormone, influencing all cells of the organism, including controlling energy production," notes the doctor. "This hormone is calcitriol (the active form of vitamin D), which plays an important role in healthy mitochondria (the main source of energy in the cell)."
