The global community must increase financial assistance for refugees in Afghanistan, stated Filippo Grandi, the High Commissioner of UNHCR. "Afghanistan is facing a specific crisis situation. We must continue to provide assistance to the refugees who find themselves in this complex situation," he emphasized.
Grandi also noted that the assistance to refugees in Afghanistan should not be limited only to the provision of food and water. "These people need medical assistance, education, and other forms of support so that they have the opportunity to survive and continue to live decently," he stressed.
"We are calling on the international community to increase financial support for refugees from Afghanistan," added Grandi.
