UAE Extends Residency Deadline Amid National Day Celebrations

The Federal Identity Management, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security Authority has announced a two-month extension of the deadline for the regulation of the status of residents, with the new deadline set for December 31, 2024.

This decision was made following consultations and feedback from the teams interacting with the clients of the Authority, who noted a significant surge in service demand across the country due to the proximity of the initial deadline to October 31, 2024.

Its presidency highlighted that this extension represents the final opportunity for violators to rectify their status, freeing them from penalties and without the imposition of a ban on entry, underlining the humanitarian aspect of the initiative.

It emphasized that the Authority and its strategic partners from the public and private sectors have made significant efforts to overcome barriers and propose solutions for specific groups, facing the challenges within their legal framework.

It underlined that this extension serves as the last opportunity for violators to rectify their status, after which penalties will again be imposed for those who continue to violate.

Major-General Suhail Said Al-Haili, the General Director of the Authority, stated that the extension coincides with the celebration of the 53rd anniversary of the National Day of the UAE, highlighting the humanitarian and civilizational values of the state.

This reflects the Authority's commitment to providing individuals with additional opportunities to resolve their situations, overcome difficulties, protect their rights, and ensure the safety of their families.

Major-General Al-Haili noted the high turnout of individuals in the last two months, wishing to benefit from these facilities.

The Authority, together with its legal partners, will intensify verification campaigns to identify violators and apply legal measures to those found to be outside the law after the expiration of the extended period. This responds to appeals, desires, and aspirations of individuals seeking to rectify their status, through departure from the country or termination of employment contracts and correcting their residency status for temporary stay in the UAE.
