Al-Nasr in Crisis: Sixth Match Without a Win

Al-Nasr is going through one of its toughest periods in the Professional League this season, continuing its streak of dropping points for the sixth consecutive match, drawing 2-2 with Khorfakkan in the 17th round. The match was characterized by clear defensive errors that have become the hallmark of the team's performance in recent rounds. After their last victory over Bani Yas on January 2nd, the team fell into a cycle of poor results lasting 50 days. During this period, they played six matches without tasting victory, managing only four draws against Al-Wasl, Al-Ain, and Khorfakkan (both home and away), and suffering two defeats against Al-Sharjah and Bani Yas. This yielded only 4 points out of a possible 18, a tally that does not match the team's potential or the expectations of its fans. Defensively, Al-Nasr appeared alarmingly fragile, conceding 10 goals in six matches, at least six of which came from direct individual errors. These figures reflect the scale of the suffering in the backline. Despite signing new players in the winter, such as Norwegian defender Marius, the errors did not disappear. In fact, they were particularly impactful in the match against Khorfakkan, when Marius made a mistake in passing the ball, handing the opponent a goal, and then goalkeeper Ahmed Shambi committed another error that led to a second goal, destabilizing the team. These recurring defensive errors have prevented Al-Nasr from making a significant leap in the standings, leaving them in 7th place with 22 points and falling further behind the top contenders. As competition for the top spots intensifies, the team's continuous loss of points makes the challenge even greater. Al-Nasr player Hussein Mahdi told "Al-Ittihad": "Errors are part of football, but what is happening now is having a very significant impact on our results. We dropped two important points at home, and we deserved to win if we had handled the details better." He added: "We must completely review our approach, especially since we have a team capable of performing at a much higher level. The responsibility lies with us, the players. The management has not fallen short, and the support is there, but we must be more responsible." Mahdi continued: "There is also a problem with converting chances. We get to the goal and create opportunities, but we must be more ruthless and score from half-chances. We also need to improve defensively and play with a winning mentality until the final minute." He concluded by saying: "We have a tough match against Dibba Al-Fujairah next week, and we must consider it a new starting point. We will fight to win and get back on the right track, because Al-Nasr's ambition has always been to be among the best."
