The Authority for Electricity and Water in Dubai, works on implementing innovative projects in the Hatta region with the aim of enhancing sustainability and achieving the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. One of the important projects in the region is the "Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls" project, which was inaugurated by the Authority in December 2024 at a cost of about 60 million dirhams. The Authority aims through this project to create a unique tourism destination that reflects its social commitment.
In this context, the Executive Director of the Authority, Said Mohammed Al Tayer, stated that the implemented projects in Hatta aim to enhance domestic tourism and environmental sustainability for the region. The project also aims to utilize the latest technologies to adapt to the environmental factors in the region while considering global environmental standards.
On another note, the project includes the use of a dam to divert Hatta’s water as a waterfall that flows from the upper dam to the Hatta region, in addition to creating the largest rock music sign in the world with rocks, and historical images of the UAE's leaders. The project will also distribute the project's dedicated retail store free of charge to Hatta residents, aiming to create additional job opportunities and achieve social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
In addition to the "Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls" project, the Authority is implementing several other projects in the region, such as the Hatta Hydroelectric Power Plant using pumped water technology with a capacity of 250 megawatts and the precision filtration project for water and many other initiatives. The aim of these projects is to increase the use of renewable energy and enhance sustainable development in the region.
