The «Sharjah Lights» festival returns to dazzle the audience once again during its 15th edition, organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. The festival events, so far, cover 13 different locations across the emirate, transforming them into living, pulsating works of art and light. As is tradition, the festival provides a distinguished platform for creators and artists who showcase new light and interactive experiences that form exceptional artworks, each carrying a story and a meaningful message.
In the city of Sharjah, the Al Majaz Waterfront presents the composition «Pulse of Belonging», which appears alive. Light stretches across the space to create a shared moment that visitors naturally enter. As people gather, it transforms into more than just a work of art; it becomes a meeting point, a photo opportunity, and a beautiful oasis in the city with a friendly and elegant spirit. Ultimately, it leaves a clear message: belonging is not just a place, but a moment we live together.
Among the highlights of this year is also «Threads of Memory», which transforms the Al Jazeera area into layers of ornamentation. The light is meticulously crafted, with intentional details that carry warmth and familiarity, as if heritage returns with a modern signature without losing its soul. With the movement of visitors, the reflections shift, revealing new angles like memories that quietly return in beautiful moments. The display in the Al Jazeera area is more than a visual landmark; it is a cultural echo that reminds us that belonging resides in what we know, inherit, and carry forward with us.
In the «Light Between Words» projection, the «House of Wisdom» building glows with a three-dimensional light mapping that tells the journey from silence to expression and from isolation to belonging. The work celebrates the manuscript not merely as a historical artifact but as a living symbol that reminds us that wisdom grows when light is shared, and belonging blossoms between the words we exchange. A gentle light emerges from the darkness, reinforcing the emotional dimension of light as knowledge, and the manuscript transforms into a glowing facade, while books float around it as if the walls of the landmark give birth to pulsating stories, embodying the multicultural nature of learning. Here, belonging is not given but made through participation. As the visual rhythm escalates, the building's facade undulates like sand, making the landmark a constellation of light, like a narrative that affirms knowledge knows no bounds. The projection concludes with a striking transformation, as the features of Arabic script gradually form from the preceding scenes in a final tableau that reflects Sharjah's commitment to creativity, culture, and celebration.
In the heart of Sharjah, the «Sharjah Fort» shines as one of the festival's prominent landmarks. Its historic facade is transformed into a pulsating light space that tells the story of «An Invitation to a Wish». This is an interactive artwork using video projection technology, transporting viewers into a fantastical, vibrant world on the wall's surface. Passersby are invited to approach the «Wishing Well» and whisper a secret wish, which then materializes and evolves on the facade, launching a cascade of visual effects. As the journey concludes, the wish joins the others, illuminating the facade with a surreal, transforming tableau woven from the collective threads of dreams and hopes.
The «Sharjah Lights» festival, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors from within the country and abroad, continues until the 15th of this month, offering exceptional performances that celebrate the aesthetics of the emirate's iconic structures, their landmarks, and cultural heritage.
Events at the «Lights Village» continue until the 22nd of this month, featuring the participation of a large number of diverse national small and medium-sized enterprises, offering visitors various experiences and options to meet their diverse interests.
