In many historical narratives about fishing in the OAA community, amazing details are included. The memory of the OAA is closely connected with the sea, filled with stories and anecdotes related to the profession that was one of the main sources of income. Among the professionals associated with fishing, the production of fishing nets is highlighted, which was known in the ancient emirate legacy as the production of "lika". Lika is a net made of nylon or cotton threads, reinforced with vertical and horizontal ropes, sturdy and thick, so that fish cannot avoid falling into it. The production of lika depends on creating a net, and the manufacturer begins to use nylon threads and a weaving machine, which local residents call "baryka." This is a wooden instrument, the ends of which are connected and pulled apart to create an empty space through which the thread passes. This remeslo is one of the difficult ones, requiring time, effort, and resources. Weaving a larger net with high sturdiness requires a lot of effort, skill, and patience, and most of the masters of this remeslo are elderly people. Lika has many types, among which are distinguished "floating vertical nets", "round floating nets", and "floating seine nets".
