
Banks operating in the country allocated 111 billion dirhams for financing the domestic market and various sectors of the economy, as well as to the population over the year. By the end of December 2024, the total volume of local credit reached 1,848.7 billion dirhams compared to 1,737.6 billion dirhams at the end of December 2023, with an annual growth of 6.4%.
According to the data provided by the Central Bank, among the total credit to the local population, 71 billion dirhams was allocated, which constitutes 64% of the total volume of credits. At the end of the previous year, this was 488.8 billion dirhams compared to 417.8 billion dirhams at the end of 2023, with a growth of 17%, which was the highest indicator over the past eight years.
The total volume of credit in the trade and industrial sectors at the end of the previous year amounted to 857.1 billion dirhams compared to 822.4 billion dirhams at the end of 2023, which represents an increase of 34.7 billion dirhams or 4.2% per year.
Small and medium enterprises received loans and support totaling 83 billion dirhams by the end of 2024 compared to 82 billion dirhams at the end of 2023. The total investments of banks at the end of the previous year amounted to 735.6 billion dirhams compared to 635.1 billion dirhams at the end of 2023, an increase of 100.5 billion dirhams or 15.8% per year.
The total volume of bank deposits increased by 325 billion dirhams over the past year and amounted to 2,847 billion dirhams at the end of the previous year compared to 2,522 billion dirhams at the end of 2023, with an annual growth of 12.9%.
The total volume of financial transactions in the banking sector for clients and banks at the end of the previous year amounted to 19.89 trillion dirhams compared to 17.16 trillion dirhams in 2023, with an annual growth of about 16%.
The total number of checks processed through the Central Bank system using digital forms amounted to 1.33 trillion dirhams for 22.6 million checks, while the total amount withdrawn from the Central Bank for that same year amounted to 209 billion dirhams, of which deposits in the Central Bank amounted to 192 billion dirhams.
