Warning Against Social Media Fraud Messages

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority warned users about fraudulent messages claiming to be from social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These messages threaten account closures and ask users to submit complaints through links that may compromise their accounts. Users are advised not to respond or click on these links to avoid exploitation of their personal information.

Warning Against Social Media Fraud Messages

The Communications and Digital Governance Organization has warned about an increase in fraudulent messages claiming to originate from social media platforms such as "Facebook" and "Instagram". The organization warns against such messages that threaten the user's account for publishing content that infringes on trademark rights, along with a prompt to file a complaint for the restoration of the page before the account is finally closed in case of the user's non-response.

The organization pointed out that such fraudulent messages seek to deceive users through claims that the account may affect their business operations, thus encouraging non-response to them or clicking on the attached links, in order to avoid theft and exploitation of personal and financial information for fraudulent purposes.

In a similar context, the organization had recently warned of an increase in account hacking activities on "WhatsApp" and the use of the information in attempts to defraud users and steal their funds. The organization repeatedly urges to avoid falling into the trap of these fraudulent attempts through social media.
