A member of the administrative committee of the national football team, Matar al-Subhani, confirmed that the 'White' team will hold a short training camp during the 'FIFA days' period, from March 23 to 30. He indicated that the technical staff is studying the possibility of playing two friendly matches against two European teams. Al-Subhani told 'Al Ittihad': 'The dates for the two friendly matches will be determined later, as part of the team's preparation for upcoming events, led by the 27th Gulf Cup, scheduled for next September.' Regarding the team's preparation plans for the next phase, he said: 'Players will be tied to their clubs, whether in the domestic league or in Asian competitions, so the only opportunity for the technical staff to call up players from clubs is during the 'FIFA days' period or after the end of the season. Therefore, the technical staff will seize the March break to hold the upcoming training camp.' He explained: 'We in the administrative committee will coordinate with the technical staff to set up the appropriate mechanism for holding an external training camp, as well as a mechanism to gather players during the camp period.' Al-Subhani also revealed that the upcoming friendly matches will be held before the start of the next Gulf Cup, noting that 'a joint session of the administrative and technical committees will be held in March to prepare for the external training camp.' On the possibility of including Al Ahli's young players, Guilherme da Silva Pala and Yuri Cesar, in the national team in the next phase after completing the legal period that allows them to join, given that their presence would be a great addition, al-Subhani said: 'Any player who has completed the legal period that allows him to join the national team will be called up by the technical staff if his presence is in the best interest of the team.' It is worth noting that the upcoming March camp will be the first for the team since its last official appearance in the 2025 Arabian Gulf Cup, held in Doha last December, where it finished third. The team also awaits a significant event: participation in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup final. On the other hand, the national team's technical staff, led by Romanian coach Olarium Cosmin and his assistants, is closely monitoring club matches in various competitions to observe the players' technical levels and assess their technical, physical, and mental readiness before selecting the national team squad.
