The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has launched 13 new substations with a capacity of 1950 MVA as part of expanding its network to meet growing demand.

DEWA marked an important moment by launching 13 new high-voltage substations with a capacity of 132 kilovolts and a transmission capability of 1950 megavolt-amperes by 2024. This is part of the utility's focus on supporting the urban development of Dubai. The General Director of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, stated that 127 kilometers of underground cables were also installed to connect these substations to the main transmission network. "We are committed to supporting the residential sector, satisfying the growing demand for electricity in Dubai, working on increasing family welfare and ensuring everything necessary for improving the quality of life and the well-being of our citizens," Al Tayer emphasized. He also added that the organization aims to expand its network in line with Dubai's economic plan D33 and the Urban Plan 2040, to keep up with the significant increase in population and strengthen Dubai's position as the best place for living, working, and recreation in the world. The new electricity substations will supply new residential areas of Dubai, such as Azba, Nad Hessa, Huwainidj Second, Uadi Al-Amardi, Al-Avir First, and also substations in other regions like Taniya Third, Al-Barsha South Fourth, Mundjamid Al-Amaliyah Second, Uadi As-Safa Fifth, Um Sukaim Third, and Jebel Ali Industrial First.
