The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is gearing up to mark the 15th edition of Public Transport Day, an initiative that aims to encourage residents and visitors to opt for sustainable transportation choices. The event is scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 1, 2024, aligning with the vision of Dubai to be a top global city for living standards.
Public Transport Day, launched in 2009, has been instrumental in urging Dubai residents to embrace public transport, thereby supporting environmental sustainability and enhancing urban mobility. Through this annual event, the RTA seeks to highlight the positive influence of public transport on people's quality of life with the theme, “Your best route, driving Dubai to a better future.”
As a part of the celebrations, the RTA plans to recognize and honor six categories of the most dedicated public transport users. Each category will have three winners, with the recipients of the first prize being awarded 1 million points. Those securing the second and third spots will receive 500,000 and 250,000 points, respectively. The six categories include long-term users since 2009, top users during Public Transport Week 2024, RTA employees, individuals of determination, senior citizens, and students.
The highlight of the event will be the recognition of the top public transport users as "Public Transport Champions," each of whom will be rewarded with NOL Plus points. This acknowledgment aims to showcase the commitment of individuals towards sustainable transportation choices and further motivate others to follow suit.
