UAE Launches Global Energy Efficiency Initiative at COP29

During COP29 in Baku, UAE announced the establishment of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance, aiming to double global energy efficiency rates by 2030. This initiative highlights the commitment to reduce carbon emissions and enhance cooperation among nations and organizations while encouraging investments in sustainability projects.

Dubai. The United Arab Emirates presented an initiative titled "Global Alliance for Energy Efficiency" at the COP29 conference aimed at improving the energy efficiency level of global energy consumption, with the goal of halving carbon emissions by 2030, reducing the consumption of natural resources through cooperation between nations, institutions, and companies in accordance with the overall commitment, initiated by the "Emirati Sustainability" at COP28.

"Global events must address energy efficiency at the global level, which is essential for energy security and energy sustainability," said Sherif El-Alamy, Director of the Ministry of Energy and Oil Infrastructure, during the event in Azerbaijan during COP29. "The Emirati initiative has a multilateral support framework that transforms energy consumption into more effective processes, fostering dialogues with various countries around the world to create an alliance."

Al-Alamy emphasized that the United Arab Emirates will lead this alliance, providing the best practices in the field of energy efficiency, sharing knowledge, and developing partnerships with the private sector. He urged governments, organizations, and leaders to join the alliance to establish ambient goals that stimulate investments in energy efficiency projects and develop the necessary policies and technologies to achieve sustainability.

The alliance's goal is to reduce carbon emissions and the consumption of natural resources through enhanced knowledge exchange and strengthened partnership between public and private sectors, while also stimulating investments in energy efficiency projects and the development of necessary policies and technologies to achieve sustainability.

It is noted that "The Global Alliance for Energy Efficiency" is a multilateral initiative initiated by the United Arab Emirates to support energy efficiency and achieve global ecological goals through cooperation between nations, institutions, and companies aimed at doubling energy efficiency by 2030 as part of global commitments to improve energy efficiency by the same year.
